Anti-Drink Driving Ads en route for XBOX 360

The authorities seem to think that XBOX owners are law-breaking drunk drivers, especially if they play any kind of car or racing game on the XBOX. So much so that they’ve decided to step into the gaming world by to inserting ‘anti drink drive ads’ in the games.

Interesting idea but?won’t it be kinda like the cancer warning on cigarette packs - it’s there, but nobody cares about it? Seems to be an interesting idea,?would be great if it works.

Xbox 360 Gets own Devil May Cry 4 Afterthought bundleTo put 360 gamers at ease, Capcom’s Devil May Cry 4 is being bundled in a barebones package in Japan. All you’ll get though is the console and the game - no Devil Bringer controller or action figures, not even a t-shirt or a cap.

At almost 38,000 Yen there’s not all that much value for money to be had, Capcom is lowering the bundle bar :(

New Folding @ Home for PS3

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Sony has released a new version of the Folding@Home client for PlayStation 3, which you can download by clicking on the FAH icon on the XMB. According to the Sony US blog, the new FAH client now has an option to shut itself down after it finishes its current task, or after an amount of time set by you, allowing the console to submit completed data to Stanford University, which runs the project, before turning itself off.

Folding @ Home, PS3 style
The new version also has the option to listen to background music while you help find out why particular proteins aren’t folding - something that has been implicated in Alzheimer’s and various cancers - with track-skipping options and other expected features.

DivX playback arrives on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

DIVX now playable on PS3 and XBOX 360DivX has announced that Sony’s PS3 — like Microsoft’s Xbox 360 — will now support the company’s video format with the 2.10 firmware update, but who will use it?

While not fully certified, DivX says it expects Sony to give the PS3 console a full certification in the future.?PS3′ers will be able to play HD content on their PS3 without having to investa large sum of money on a Blu-ray burner. DivX has the advantage of being a cheap, and largely open, standard.

The only question is: Will these users play their own DivX-encoded home videos on their PS3 and Xbox 360, or are they going to be downloading pirated XviD movies to watch on their big screen TVs? We all know the answer to that one don’t we :)
